I was somewhat inspired by mouse when she posted that quote. I hope she continues to do that on her journal. I found a quote that rather speaks to me.

You see, the great secret, Eliza, is not a question of good manners or bad manners, or any particular sort of manners, but having the same manner for all human souls. The question is not whether I treat you rudely, but whether you've ever heard me treat anyone else better.

--Professor Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady 1964)

Yesterday was a busy, and just horrible day (work related issues, mouse and family were fine). As though something is wrong with the universe. What struck me is that I was a complete joy to be around yesterday. It is my sincere hope today is better. I would suggest it cannot get worse however I fear tempting God in saying that.

How many days until vacation?

Yes that exchange between Higgins and Eliza speaks to me about the consistency of character. I often judge people not by my standards but by how well the adhere to their own.

Although I must confess to being more like the colonel. I do treat a flower girl like a princess rather than a princess like a flower girl.

A guiding principal of mine is treat people as they wish to be treated as opposed to how I would want to be. My little variation on the golden rule.

What timing!

I have recently had an encounter with a dominant man who claims not to understand why people, submissive people, don't take kindly to his bawdy English style of communication,

The subject to his first email to me was and I quote... "so are you a satieted slut?"

After reading your journal today I wonder if this is simply his style of communication?

Thank you. If you don't mind I may forward this to him for perusal.

Denise,
Be my guest; forward away. I assume he meant satiated, irregardless, it seems odd to start a correspondence that way. At least I would not.

Dear Omega,

He is not my cup of tea. *giggles* Your post has, however allowed me to see this man in a new and less harsh light. Perhaps his social skills are the same for all and his question, no matter how inappropriate, was just him being him.

A Mr. Higgens of sorts. No I am not grandizing his presence. In part I also wonder if he is not hiding behind his abrasive communication skills.

As I told to him his style first creates a wall and why has he not learned if he clearly has similar experiences.

Anyway thanks for this well timed entry. It was helpful.

With Gratitude,
Denise

P.s. please forgive any typos as I have submitted this from my phone.

Hey word man, irregardless??? regardless of what the on line dictionary says that surprised me.

I know double negative. It is more of emotional word than a real one, I suspect. Kind of slang of sorts, to demonstrate how dismissive one feels.

I did wonder if anyone would catch it. I shall be solicitously mindful in my choice of words in the future.

Not a problem my friend. I will even ignore the 'your' instead of 'you're' or the more proper "you are."

See? I can overlook word faux pas.
