Short and sweet

It turns out I'm not the only one that hated camping. Omega did too. The first afternoon we muddled through (we didn't arrive until just after two), got everything set up, helped the other people in our group set up as well. Omega was careful to instruct me that if I complained I would be be punished. I didn't; actually it was kinda nice but then it started raining. And it rained. Thankfully Omega and I brought a canopy so we all stayed huddled under it, playing cards. The campsite, while having a lovely river view, seemed small. I've camped in lots of places, my favorites were those places that had at the very least running water and perhaps a shower.

This place had a pit toilet.

After a second long sleepless night, Omega decided he had enough and we left long before dawn. When we got home, we were mentally drained, I gave the dog a bath while Omega emptied the vehicle. Then Omega had me reorganize all the camp stuff, and place notes on top of the boxes of what needed to go inside the next time we used it. That was quite the leap of faith giving me that task, but he explained how he wanted it done. He took the vehicle to be washed, then returned home to wash up--I showered sometime after he did. To say we were tired is an understatement. We were too tired to sleep or do anything else. Though the dog had no problems, and soon he was snoring away.

Once the chores were completed I cooked up some of the food we hadn't used in our kitchen, and that was very nice. I made some blueberry scones and they were yummy, ham and eggs rounded out the meal. We spent most of Sunday just laying around and relaxing, oh and doing a mountain of laundry because everything smelled of campfire.

This morning I am still tired, but coffee helps to wake me up. Long week ahead...at least it feels that way.

Sounds "rustic". Glad everyone made it home safe and sound!

And this is why I don't camp. The one and only time I did, I got engaged and nearly froze to death. Both, on hindsight, were just as bad as the other. *laughs*

I'm glad you guys made it back safe though!:)

I think the best part of the camping trip is the being in a place with four walls, floor and BATHROOM once again LOL

ditto, on hating to camp. Give me a hotel with an indoor pool, a hot tub, cable tv, chocolate and junk food in bed, and an IHOP or Bob Evans nearby for breakfast.

that's my version of camping. all the rest, I leave to the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.

kitty, It was horribly rustic. My idea of roughing it has changed forever now.

Gray, it was miserable.

selkie, I couldn't agree with you more

cutesypah, my new idea of roughing it is a hotel with a broken AC. LMAO
