Greetings from mouse,
Omega is away and the house feels so empty without him. Some girlfriends decided to come over last night for a special girls night in. Together we shared a rare night, pizza, wine and lots of laughter. We watched the movie Bridesmaids. All mouse could think as we watched and laughed, Omega would find the movie so very vulgar.
He's an odd duck at times, the man mouse admires so; in the right mood, he will watch South Park, The Family Guy or American Dad and laugh. He also enjoys Robot Chicken too, but not always with mouse. So often he'll become embarrassed over the dialog exchanged between the characters. It's probably a reason we don't watch many movies or TV during the week together. Or why he prefers old movies and classics to newer ones. Just like he prefers biographies to fiction in books. He'll read classic fiction but that's about it.
While, to be certain, Omega would never have approved of the movie, it was hysterical, truly showing that women, together can be every bit as gross and funny as men. At one point in the film there is mention of a charcter getting her butthole bleached, now mind you, mouse is wearing the plug Omega required of her when she told him the girl's were dropping by. And very honestly, mouse had never heard of such a thing! The girls of the group often revere mouse as the "kinky" one. Suddenly, one of her more conservative friends chimes in saying she'd done it! Appearently, there's a kit you can buy to do it at home. Almost instinctively, mouse shifted in her seat and grabbed her wine and took a long swig!
O called once while they were over, asking about how the Lilith Faire was going...mouse just smiled saying we debating the lyrics of the Indigo Girls and drinking wine.
Eventually, the topic did switch to the book 50 Shades of Grey
The opinions flew but mouse, true to Omega really bit her tongue and remained silent. A few had already read book two and were into the final. The insights on those books turned everyone off to further discussion. Obviously everyone involved in the "lifestyle" that promotes "beating" another human is thoroughly mentally ill and requires "intense reparative therapy." Remaining silent, mouse finished off the last bottle of wine. Tho Lucy was aghast when mouse admitted that she only made it partially through the second book before deleting all of them from her iPad. No comments came from mouse about the story.
Note to self: Pain killers (even mild ones) and wine...not a great combination. O would NEVER approve!
After tidying up, mouse removed the plug, washed and put it away. Then promptly fell asleep to some rather disturbing dreams....none of which mouse can recall this morning...

Hello mouse,
ReplyDeleteit sounds like a decadent night of female energy and I certainly miss those times. I do hope you had a good evening with your friends. Personally I found that movie a good laugh. It is raunchy and the women are vulgar and definitely not lady like; however, I see nothing wrong with that (from time to time). Often in the relationship I share with Master he pushes me to be more, shall I say, slutty because I am so prim and proper. I do believe there is a time and place for all behaviours and I treasure being a "lady". Still, sometimes I do not want to be in pretty corsets and speak in soft tones and ensure my demeanour is acceptable. Sometimes I want to wear my favourite faded jeans with a white t-shirt and flip flop sandals and not watch my language or content and laugh really loud, heck even snort should the joke/moment be _that_ funny. I appreciate men being gentlemen and I appreciate women being ladies but why is it that having a good time with the occasional cuss word not be lady like? That really is a question for myself but there are many who would believe what I do. In the presence of other women we have a little more freedom to not be on guard with our actions and it is liberating and often needed to refresh ourselves.
As for the books, I have read none. Just not interested.
Yay to girls night. I hope your head does not hurt from the wine and painkiller combination.
Take care,
~a

DeleteTotally understand what you're saying and the energy of the evening was fantastic! It was really refreshing...especially when mouse's friend admitted to the anal bleaching...omg that was a moment!
Omega prefers mouse to be demure and proper, so it was very nice to not be for evening...lol. We were a little loud, we used bad language...and thoroughly enjoyed being naughty girls. Ha!
Hugs,

I finished the second book of that series. :/ I know quite a few "kinky" people who very much enjoy them, but for me? Awful writing aside, I am finding that I really, really hate the way they pathologize sadism. It's treated like a mental disorder and reinforces LONG debunked freudian theories and early childhood experiences/mommy issues "causing" either sexual masochism/sadism. I have other issues with it too, but... I don't know. I have started a little chat group in Fetlife about it because I was curious to see what others thought... most aren't bothered by it at all, which surprised me. Frankly, I'm kind of afraid what the mainstream/vanilla fallout will be in regard to BDSM as a result of the "books".
ReplyDelete..And here I am rambling when you just told us you aren't going to comment on the story. :P Apologies. I'm very glad that you had a wonderful time with your girlfriends! "Girl time" is rare for me too. I miss it sometimes!
Zelda,
DeleteHonestly mouse's view echo your own...poorly written aside, it was shameful. When mouse heard about the book...hmm...but then reading the first and only making it part way through the second...
Really don't understand at all how it became so popular...but the author is allegedly well connected, so it's possible that the media storm was driven by the author....Or by the connections.
There is no such thing as bad publicity.
There are rumblings of making it into a movie...really don't see how that's possible...
The first book only has around 30 pages of actual story....the rest is mostly vanilla sex! The time frame is like three weeks or so...
Now look who's rambling...lol

I havent seen that film but i have heard great reports about it, i love having girlie get togethers. What i find that makes me uncomfortable is when its a group of women there usually ends up being men bashing although addmittedly light hearted.
ReplyDeleteDont get me wrong its all a bit of a giggle and harmless and as much as i adore my Master he is a man and does have traits that niggle me but i just dont feel comfortable sitting with a group of women tearing him or their partners to strips...so i dont.
its funny my friends consider me quite reserved (i have one close friend whom is aware of the dynamic of our relationship) and think of me as a prude because i tend to stay quiet.
As to the insights on the book yes well unfortunatly i do think thats how it does potray it but i wont say anymore than that.
Now i feel like i have wrote an essay, hope you had a great evening though sounds like it....hangover by any chance? lol
best wishes

tori,
DeleteThis is one of the few times that mouse can report there was very little man-bashing...between watching the movie and the brief discussion of the book and laying out plans for the next book...
There just wasn't a whole lotta time to bash...it as nice...
Yes, mouse does have a mild hangover....not too bad tho. It could have been so much worse...
Lol

There are many good books (not in the mainsteam) that protray BDSM in a more favorable light.(ebooks-Bookstrand, Siren Pub) The authors tend to romantize the relationships and happy endings. I don't know if they are into BDSM or just reading the non fiction BDSM books and using information and their imaginations to write their stories. Some stories seem close to what I've read in blogs and other just seem to use BDSM kinky sex as a vehicle to fill pages.
ReplyDeleteGlad I didn't buy the book just ordered it from the library.
Joyce
Joyce,
Deletemouse with you...and totally wishes that she hadn't purchased any of them.

Hey, Mouse,
ReplyDeleteNothing like a get-together with other women. In my youth, i was one of those, "O, I don't much like women, I enjoy hanging out with guys" kind of girls, but as i've gotten older, i've learned what a source of joy my women-folk are. And it is different when the men aren't' around...
hugs,
aisha
aisha,
DeleteThat's exactly how mouse was...it wasn't until she got a bit older that she really needed be around chicks...Guys are fine but after a while mouse just needed the girls...
Women, mouse thinks are much patient than men are about lots of things...and we're far more supportive.
