Beneath a Shower of Pearls

Greetinga from mouse,

Ever have a bad hair day?  A really bad hair day?  The kind of day where one might contemplate showering again in the hope of taming it.  Most days it's just manageable.  Totally perfect hair days are rare -- and .   Of course, the baby wouldn't afford for that and abjectly screamed during the first rapid shower, a second seemed inconceivable.  Yes, it was to be a grand day as weary mouse carried the baby down the stairs.  Having nursed the baby twice so far, changed and the baby girl remained cranky.

Annoyed for so many reasons, other than hair, mouse set to work preparing the morning meal.  Omega came downstairs looking completely well-rested, handsome and rather dashing in his grey suit.  He walked over, picked up the baby and was about to snuggle her, when baby girl vomited all over him.  At that moment, while Omega held the baby at arms length, dodging hopeless projectile vomit, all mouse could think was, "well done baby girl."  One giant leap for woman kind, as mouse bit back the smirk, rushed to Omega with a towel and took the baby.  He looked at his suit and went upstairs to change his clothes...at least he gets a second shower.   Poor baby girl...

Take two on Omega's morning.  He came back downstairs looking all refreshed and smelling wonderful...Damn him.  While mouse still had a little vomit in her hair...left over from taking the baby...and cleaning her up...Yes, nothing like a little morning vomit to make you feel sooo very attractive.

Kiddo gave mouse and "barf baby" a wide birth the whole day.  Gotta say "Barf Baby" kinda sounds like a super hero name..

Thankfully the vomit was a one time thing, what her girlfriends would call mystery vomit, but still baby girl remained a little off.   Normally baby girl is quite agreeable....

The whole day moved in somewhat slow motion.  Did all the usual stuff...with the added stress of cranky baby who cried through a nap.  Cooked dinner...dealt with baby girl while the rest of the family ate it...

No rest for the wicked.

Eventually baby girl settled, exhausted and slept...yanno that deep good sleep...

Going back downstairs mouse found the whole kitchen cleaned up...Wow.  A dinner plate was left for her...but to be honest, mouse didn't really care...still managed a few bites...

After starting the dishwasher, mouse went into his study and sat on the sofa...just reading stuff on her ipad.  We didn't talk...nothing really to say but the silence was comfortable.

Omega came over and looked at mouse...making her smile..but he bent down to kiss her...he stopped..

"You smell like baby vomit."  He said as tho he were shocked.  It had been a hellish day.

Shaking her head, mouse just got up and went upstairs to shower...what else could she do?

Actually the shower felt really REALLY good and even used one of her scented soaps...it was nice.  And really felt luxurious.  Upstairs she lingered just enjoying that clean feeling.  When she dried her hair, damn it all...

It came out perfect.  15 minutes to bed and mouse had PERFECT hair.  The kind of perfect you want for something special...The kind of perfect hair she wanted but didn't get on her wedding day to Omega...

Just a side note, everything in our world is going well. The baby has recovered, and doing much better.  Its entirely possible she's started teethi.  The next post will be a departure from the normal day-to-day rambles and musings.

  2. I think you held in their admirably well all day, but it seems cruel that the hair gods would do that to you.

    Sadistic and cruel.

Thanks for a snapshot of normal.

  3. It gets better, I promise. And it's like that for everyone who has a baby. I like that the baby puked on him (not on Omega, just on "the man"). Sometimes that's the high point of the whole day isn't it?

    1. Mystress,

Truly the hair god must be a man...or a woman with serious PMS. To do that just minutes before bed was beyond cruel.

  5. Baby vomit at that stage at least smells better than any other vomit you could have on you, I suppose, if one was to look at the positive side. :)

    1. Corina,

That much is true, or else mouse is just used to it that she doesn't notice it...

Actually there was a bit of grumble from mouse when he made the remark...the hair was just the icing on the cake.

      Hugs,

  6. Is it ok if I secretly give a laugh the baby game Him some "morning love" in the form of vomit? I had to snicker a bit at that.

Ahh, those days will be coming for me again soon Mouse, I don't know HOW I will do it with twins!

I have had vomit hair, and baby vomit down my back, and even on the sleeve of my shirt, all the while not noticing it until my "H" said something. *(sigh)*

Overall, I'm glad you finally got your hair moment! The day was not without success!!

    1. Emi,

Yes it's happened before...smelling like baby spit up...really kinda sets off Omega's OCD in an almost funny way. The good hair was totally wasted tho!!!

  7. I remember the one time our first son pooped on my husband...It was really a highlight for me, because it had been happening to me nearly every night since the kiddo was born lol.

And hey, you got to go to bed with perfect hair! Though as someone who's hair always seems to have this runaway just-fucked look, I can see how that could have been a very annoying experience.

  9. I never had children mouse. So I've never had the privilege of telling anyone their hair smelled like baby vomit. I envy you both, just a little for that!

Congrats on the perfect hair moment, and thank you for the beautiful description of your day,it's precious.

    1. Aww that's awful. Went out to the market recently and hadn't noticed a nice big wet spot on both boobs! Seriously, wanted the earth to just swallow mouse up!

Motherhood isn't always glamorous like those movie stars in their perfect white living rooms are leading us to believe. ;-)

  12. There is no smell like baby vomit. Im glad it was a short occurance.

I remember when my son was finally released from the N.I.C.U. I was so excited to show him off to my friends. Right when I got him out of his car seat to walk into the restaurant to meet my friends he puked all down the front of my dress. They had him on soy formula for a little while to see if it would help some of the issues he was having...have you ever smelled soy formula??? It smells horrible before they even drink it...puked up it's indescribable. That was the moment I realized I was completely unprepared for motherhood.
