Pounced with Fire on Flaming Roads

Greetings from mouse,

Many years ago, before we were Omega and mouse, we worked together.   When mouse relocated we had lost contact with each other only to be forced back together by odd circumstance.  The first time we saw each other in a social setting was a party.   It was a hoity-toity event that mouse would normally avoid but was required by work.  The hosts were so well connected they used first names, like Bill, Larry and Steve freely.  Bill meaning, Bill Gates, who they actually knew through their philanthropic connections.  Larry meaning Larry Ellison of Oracle and Steve Jobs of Apple.

Now none of those people were there, but mouse was surely intimidated by the fact that the hosts are that connected --- really couldn't imagine who else these people know.  This is a world mouse would NEVER belong in.  They live in a palace, high atop a vineyard...it's an estate really with huge grounds.

The party was to be a casual barbecue and mouse heard more than one person grumbling about having to go.  Of course there were more ambitious types chomping at the bit to attend, probably going into debt to charm the hosts with the right clothing by the right designers.  Normally mouse quietly shirked social things like that but it was work and required...Eventually, mouse decided screw it...

Although driving her Camero through the gates of the home, mouse was filled with trepidation, the house was ENORMOUS.  Grand.  They had valets!  Here's mouse who decided to screw it and wear her capri jeans and home made tie dyed tee shirt...Ya...a brilliant move.

The reason for this was that if she was going to be uncomfortable in her surroundings wearing comfortable clothing might help...

Valet's were always excited to drive mouse's car and that made her nervous...she told the clutch is very stiff...more of a warning and watched as the valet, grinding gears, drove it away a little too fast.

Someone led mouse to the pool area and garden, music was playing softly from speakers mouse couldn't see...The area was gorgeous...

What really struck mouse was how gracious the hosts were, especially the wife, who complemented mouse on her so-not-kidding $10 purse from Kohls.  Smiling awkwardly mouse said where it was from, the wife disarmed mouse at once by saying that she'd just gotten a 30% off coupon and couldn't wait to see what they had.

Wait this woman shops at Kohls?

Ooookay.

Waiters handed out glasses of wine; the food was very good.  As the sun began to set the sky lit up in technicolor splendor, you couldn't ask for a nicer day or a more gorgeous setting.  It was summer and very warm but somehow these people ordered a gentle breeze (seldom found at mouse's house) to cool the guests.

Ya, it was that perfect.  With a couple hundred people in attendance mouse avoided making the rounds, sticking instead to people she knew in a nice little tucked away corner of the garden.

That was when she saw him.

Omega.  Well he wasn't Omega then...

He and the hostess were having a conversation.  He glanced up and saw mouse.

Now by this time is was getting dark,  gardens lit with twinkle lights and mouse decided she had drank the wine, ate the food and it was time to leave; her duty was done.  The appearance made, the job secure (ok, her job was never really on the line by not attending...but yanno?).  As mouse stood to leave saying goodbye to the people seated around her; she quickly decided to make her exit.

Naturally the only way out of that area was to walk passed the hostess and Omega.  No problem mouse thought...she could simply slink passed and leave unnoticed.

The hostess held up her hand and latched onto mouse pulling her toward Omega...

"Mouse (okay she used mouse's real name),  do you know Mr Omega?"  Really mouse was lucky she didn't choke...but somehow worked up a smile, kinda nodding yes.

Omega, ever the gentleman, said that indeed he and mouse were well acquainted from California.  The song playing in the background was Cherish by the Association.  We talked for a moment and mouse haphazardly thanked the hostess for a wonderful afternoon but said she needed to get home...to feed the dog.

Omega instantly offered to walk mouse out.  His hand effortlessly slipped onto the small of her back as he led her to the valet.  Why did he have to touch her, mouse wondered...really?  Part of her wanted to recoil and the bigger part just melted.

The silence between us was somewhat awkward as mouse slipped the valet the ticket and wondered if she should tip him when he fetched the car.

"Tell me, your not still driving that maniacal car of yours?"  He asked intently adding, "It was indeed most unsafe."

Now her car was never something mouse considered unsafe...it's a classic muscle car.  1967 Camero with wing window and more metal than in most engines found today.  Sure it doesn't have airbags or really great seat belts but it's hardly unsafe.  Was he picking a fight?

Instead of taking the bait mouse just shrugged indifferently.  And as if on cue, the engine roared to life and as the car approached, the ground vibrated.

He shook his head in disapproval.  The valet held the door for mouse and smiled, making mouse think maybe she should have checked the milage before she handed the keys.

We said goodbye and mouse got into the car,  popped the clutch and killed the engine.

"It really is a safe car!"

How embarrassing...honestly mouse has driven this thing up the steepest hills in San Francisco,  yanno the ones with stop signs at the top and car behind that pulls up really close to the back bumper...The kind of stop that makes you sweat a little...

And mouse NEVER killed the engine...in fact made the transition from stop to start so smoothly that you'd think she was driving an automatic.

And here on flat ground...in front of O...she killed the engine.

Omega just watched and smiled in that victorious somewhat smug way of his.

Restarting the car, mouse found the gear and destination....

During the long drive home mouse pondered about his choice of words..."...well acquainted..."

When she wasn't thinking about that...she thought about how nice his hand felt, but needing a distraction mouse switched on the radio,  to the "oldies" station she listened to...Cherish was playing...

At home, with the dog, mouse tried to push the thoughts away of him.   Yanno, tuck them into her mind where the past belonged.

At least until the next day, her cell phone rang...

I love your story. Thanks for sharing. It seems like the song selection while you wrote it should have been Cherish though?

I adored reading this. You have a real way with words (even if it's not as formal as Omega ;) ). You describe things so well that I really feel like I could have been there watching the whole thing happen.

I signed up for a blog account so I didn't have to use anonymous anymore. Not sure if I'll actually blog. :)

sin,

Actually mouse did consider it, but decided on different lines from My Back Pages by Bob Dylan instead.

It was Omega's idea to share it after over-hearing mouse teling a few people about.

Kitty,

Yes seeing each other that first time in a social setting was totally odd. Didn't know he was going to be there otherwise mouse might have worn something different...

Or not gone at all....

hi mouse and Omega

i was wanting to pose this question on formspring but its limited to characters and well i have more to ask than what it would allow lol

Do you think if a submissive retracts or changes her mind about something she has previously agreed to submit to that this is potentially damaging to the dynamic? is there the risk that the dynamic becomes less stable and uncertain..how can that be managed effectively?

yes this is brought about by my recent post..and well i guess im looking for peace of mind if im honest..hope you dont mind and thanks in advance.

best wishes

What a lovely story.

I know those San Francisco hills. Whose idea was it to build a city in the middle of a bunch of crazy rolling hills anyway? Even in an automatic those stops make me sweat a bit.

tori,

Thank you for the thoughtful query. I did read the journal post and mouse's reply which prompted the further discussion. Whilst I am unaware of the overall history, I will propose there are dangers for both sides of the power exchange to simply acquiesce to wishes for any reasons. Any action may cause undue damage to a dynamic.

Only you and your Dom, through careful discussion can decide if continuing a course will cause mental anguish or harm.

This does not mean there might not be some chaffing with the decision. Even within a power exchange we often must make sacrifices for the overall good of the relationship. Hard limits, even those at first readily accepted, after being explained, should be examined. How important is this new limit? Can I simply live without it?

For mouse, poly is a limit, a very hard one etched in stone. This was not reached without her trying. For myself, I simply cannot control giving pain to mouse. I had an instance, late last year, where I realized during a simple correction, my sadistic urges were driving me to continue. That became my limit.

Now either situation might have caused permanent damage to our dynamic. While both of us individually were hurt by the admissions, together we decided to forge ahead. I believe for the betterment of our life together, we were able to set aside our fears and after time spent grieving the losses, we able visualize with greater clarity what was truly important to us as a couple.

Serve well,
Omega

Oh no kidding. :-)

The worst is to be stuck behind someone, the car behind you hugging your ass and some fool slowly crossing the street...

No wonder we're all so impatient...lmao. Truth be told tho, mouse would move back in a heartbeat if possible.

mouse

Thankyou Omega for replying

I know that this is a subject which has to be discussed and brought to a conclusion, my fear has been and is feeling a failure, that perhaps i havent tried hard enough. But yes i see that sometimes change no matter how difficult can be for the greater good.

I need to work on communicating better.

thankyou again
