Quarantine Day 18
In the opening scene of the film Aviator we see a young Howard Hughes (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) being bathed by His mother and spelling out the word quarantine. It sets a tone for the film and the odd OCD type way Hughes was known for. Will the children that grow up in the post quarantine world have an irrational fear of never having enough toilet paper? It's a real possibility.
The choices we make today are going to guide the children that come after. Personally, we wonder if we are doing anything right! It's scary to be so uncertain.
It's been difficult for everyone, we're no exception. Staying home is hard. Going out into the world, no matter how brief is hard too. You constantly worry, "don't touch your face" "don't get too close to anyone else"
There's so much anxiety and worry.
With that in mind, Master decided we should all just depart for the lake. He contacted the local sheriff to let them know of our plans, we have purchased enough food (fingers crossed on that one) to ensure that we won't have to leave the house for at least two or three weeks after we arrive. Then we can ease into the community. The sheriff agreed with our plans (especially the part of arriving with everything we need to last a couple weeks) so we won't have to stop along the way.
Today was shopping day, made a bunch of sandwiches for the road and we leave in a few hours, we aren't anticipating much traffic and hopefully that'll bear true.
Connecting here will be spotty, but we hope to be able to.

Hi Mouse, very good thoughts on future generations post quarantine. Going to the lake sounds like a good idea. Safe travels and stay safe.

Visiting 2nd homes is a total no no in the UK. Some of our MPs have been named and shamed for it.

Master's Kitten - Thanks, things are good here, looking forward to getting out of the house.
Twunt - That's precisely why we handled this way, we arrived with all the food we could possibly need for the 2-3 weeks (we are running low on some things, but our two week period is nearly up.) Master notified the local sheriff and health authority of our plan to move and we haven't been out beyond the front porch or back deck area since arriving. They have been in touch to see how we're getting on.
For the record, mouse is only one to do shopping, and hasn't exhibited any symptoms (aside from the usual seasonal allergies). We are looking forward to enjoying some takeout from a favorite barbecue place in town once our two week voluntary sequester is up.
People that don't take all these actions are potentially putting others at risk and probably deserve a bit of shaming. You shouldn't leave your primary residence and slip into the vacation community, the same way you normally would. You should take precautions.
