What a lovely way to burn

Long ago, someone told mouse in a very off-handed way that D/s burns hotter. This person was right, it does burn hotter, way hotter than other types of dynamics. Often this causes issues, people might misconstrue the deep burring passion for obsession or addiction. It's true mouse will often remark that she seems to orbit around Daddy, but this isn't entirely the whole story.

In order for an orbit to occur, there must be gravity. Now, mouse isn't going to get into the theory of gravity (yes, it's indeed scientifically considered a theory much like evolution and not a "law," as often misquoted). In a sense, Daddy's gravity holds mouse in place. It's the constant in her world. it's a wonderful feeling knowing that mouse is held secure.

While there maybe times that mouse feels as though she's spinning out of control, but his strong gravitational pull prevents mouse from going too far. And that's something mouse tends to forget about. Submission, in all its complex facets are part of mouse's intricate make-up and cannot be changed. What's more is that she'd never want to change them.

Yesterday was Mother's Day, at least in the US and a few other places maybe...and honestly, mouse did exactly as she wished, spending the day doting on Daddy and the family. Yes, mouse did receive the obligatory card and flowers, but she also spent the day cooking for them. That sounds bad doesn't it?

When mouse was a girl, there was a lady who lived next door to her, the lady seemed old to mouse, but very nice and insisted that mouse call her Nona. Which is an Italian version of Grandma. While the whole house smelled of parsley, rosemary, basil and garlic those scents became love to mouse. The older woman had patience and taught mouse how to cook. Now it also should be said that when mouse's own grandmother found out, she became livid with mouse. The reason was that mouse never showed any interest in her cooking (which was because poor grandma was a horrible cook who added barbecue sauce to tomatoes and called it spaghetti sauce). And please don't get mouse started on the potato salad her grandmother used to make. Let's just say for years mouse wouldn't touch the stuff until Alpha made her taste some from the Italian deli up the road from the university.

So, this older woman influenced mouse in the most positive way and when she passed away she left mouse the most wonderful gift of all her family recipes. All which mouse dutifully preserved to this day. So, for mouse spending the day in the kitchen with her recipes and sauce bubbling, well, she couldn't have asked for a better way to spend Mother's Day.

After all, it was Mother's Day!

I spent the day with my son as well and thought, isn't that how you should want to spend Mother's Day? With them? I say yes!

I dont think it sounds bad at all, its something you enjoy doing, its another form of service which is part of your submission which you get pleasure from and it pleases Omega so 2 birds killed with 1 stone! if that makes any sense at all lol

Like you said about someone saying to you that D/s burns hotter and it appears to have stuck with you, you said to me once via blog that with D/s everything seems to be more... how true that is...everything is more and mostly in a good way.

Our mothers day was a couple of months ago, sounds like you all had a wanderful day.

Awww that explains where you got all those yummy recipes and your love for cooking. Glad you had a great day!

I apologize in advance for for this comment and can only blame my general mathematical geekness for it.

Gravity is one of the four fundamental forces of nature along with electromagnetism and the nuclear strong force and weak force. As such gravity is not a theory it is an observable constant.

Newton was the first mathematician through his publication principia to try and explain gravity and it was later done in a more precise way by Einstein in his publication General Relativity. It is these mathematical constructs of how gravity works that are indeed theory as opposed to the force of gravity it's self.

My grandmother was the best cook! But when she died i was too young to care about anything as dumb as a recipe. Sigh. Now i would give anything to have hers.

Happy mother's day!

OMG...had a whole reply and lost it...ugh...

Going to try again and maybe condense it. While you're correct Sir that gravity is a contant or a fundamental force in our universe there are in fact many theories as to why it is is present and how it works and how that might be used (there are theories surrounding all the 4 constants). Steven Hawking believes that Gravity alone might be responsible for the creation of our whole universe.

This where the comparison to evolution comes in. We are here; we know we exist (some creationists believe that god and humans should be considered a "fundamental force" as well and don't get mouse started on that) but there is a strong theory as to how we came into being. Some argue that because evolution is just a theory we shouldn't take it seriously. The reality is they confuse the term with hypothesis or a good guess.

A scientific theory requires experimentation and observations.

Hope this begins to clarify mouse's position a bit...

Really there could be a whole post on this topic alone...but this isn't a science blog (laughs).

Also, there's the Dark Matter (or energy) theory as well. Many believe that Dark Matter could explain more of how our universe works...Many believe it should be the 5th force.

That's the thing we can have these forces or contants but we can still have multiple theories surrounding them. The problem is they're having a hard time finding dark matter...which would give further proof of its existence.

fascinating topic tho...again...this could be a whole blog post in someone else's blog....

I love that there's a geeky tangent going on! You guys make my nerdy side so happy! ;)

Happy Mother's Day mouse, and I think you spent it exactly perfectly!

I agree with all you said mostly mouse and I believe that I understood from the beginning what you meant. I was and am being cheeky with your choice of words. Gravity is not a theory any more than a leaf on a tree is a theory. It is an observable and constant aspect of nature which we try to explain through math. It is those explanations that are theories just as fractal theory attempts to explain why leafs grow the way they do.

perhaps I will start a new D/s blog - Doing science :)

Oh that is just so sentimental and wonderful that it hurts my heart! I'm glad it was a good day, and a good way to remember your friend.

D/s and theory of gravity....fascinating analogy. You are a deep thinker, mouse. No science blog please...cogitating tends to hurt my brain.

How wonderful to have someone do that and teach you. Not all women are cooks their talents lay elsewhere and there is nothing wrong in that. Glad you had a good day.

Mom taught me to cook eggs, Dad taught me to cook pancakes, and everything else was learned working as a cook or chef . . .

So while I've cooked at a 4 star restaurant, I've never had anyone in my life like Nana.

I hope it's ok to be just a little jealous?

Big hugs,
Michael

btw - belated happy Mother's Day wishes! this was my first Mother's Day since losing my own Mom, so my well wishes and regards are late everywhere as I struggled a bit on Sunday, but the wishes are just as sincere as if they'd have been delivered on time!

sfp - oooh thanks! It was very wonderful.

Kitty - It was perfect. Some of mouse's friends felt it was wrong, but it was just what mouse wanted to do!

tori - thanks so much. Really did have a great day, it was fantastic.

The D/s burning hotter was said to mouse probably around 2002. It rang so true then...

Mindset - yep! She really was a fantastic cook. And yes, mouse cherishes those recipes.

Doing science sounds like a great blog idea...

Go for it!

Christie -- often mouse wonders if that family feels the same way today. Tho, honestly, those recipes have brought mouse sooooo much enjoyment!

Joyce - really no worries on a science blog! Thank you as always for your kind thoughts.

Trazuredpet - thank you so very much. It really was a wonderful day for mouse!!

Thank you Sir for the Mother's Day wishes and mouse really does understand how difficult the day can be. Honestly, being the first Mother's day since Babygirl came along, it was very hard for mouse, since her own mom's been gone for almost 24 years. Have to say tho, having mil around was helpful.

Nona was an amazing cook and made all the traditional southern Italian foods that mouse has grown to love!!

Hugs,
