In the Still of the Night

Just after midnight on this morning, mouse was waiting by the front door, inside the kitchen coffee was hot and ready poured into cute to go cups, along with a warm coffee cake, pre-sliced and wrapped in napkins to welcome the girls. One by one the headlights made their way up and down the street and eventually some stopped in front of mouse's home.

Our route was preloaded into Lucy's smart phone and we each had loaded all the special coupon deals into our individual phones. We had our lists, and had a good idea of the important places to hit up already agreed upon. We had a few extra people as well, so it's good mouse had extra of those to go cups.

Just before we left, mouse snuck upstairs to let Daddy know we were leaving. He blinked several times and looked at his watch. Had mouse even been to bed. Nope not yet. This didn't please Daddy and he asked if mouse was driving -- really did we need to have this conversation right now? It's not as though he didn't know about it. This wasn't new. Clearly mouse was buzzing on pure energy so we kissed and mouse snuck out of the room.

The traffic wasn't bad, until we got close to the mall, then we crawled along, we found a space though quickly miles from the front door (surely our husbands would have circled the whole parking lot a million times trying to find a closer spot) and ran. Inside the mall several stores had been open all night, while others had long lines to get inside already forming, so we jumped into line. We sipped our coffee and ate our cake (instantly we were hated by some other people in line) and whooped and yelled when the doors opened.

Did mouse mention we had maps?

Within an hour we were done with that store and had already moved onto the next. We had coupons for everything it seemed, even McDonald's. Where we stopped at the drive through at 6am, with enough coupons for 10 egg mcmuffins and coffees for all the girls, which Lucy and mouse stood outside her car and handed out to the other girls. By 9am we were exhausted and we decided enough was enough. We hugged and headed home.

There, mouse found Daddy flipping pancakes. He asked how things went, but little else. It felt odd to mouse when he asked if she was hungry. He meant nothing really by it, mouse is sure, but it made her feel like she should have been there making breakfast for him. Of course with all mixture of stuff she ate already, the idea of pancakes seemed yucky.

Now, she should be resting while she's got the chance, but went from feeling exhausted to wide awake. Long day ahead though, Thanksgiving round two begins tonight. Lucy and Schroeder are coming over to dinner, and of course there's all the Shabbat prep still to be done. Rest will come later.

Right now, mouse is thankful for the fact she does have wonderful girlfriends to shop with in black Friday, and equally wonderful blogging friends to share it all with.

Wow mouse, that is quite impressive. I am glad some people actually enjoyed their Black Friday excursions ... All you ever see on the news is the insanity of it all. (in Canada we do have Black Friday but not nearly as "bad" as in the states).

Glad you had such a great time little mouse! Pet and I simply snuggled in and ignored all the black Fri shopping. We prefer to hang at home and if anything, do it online. Hope you got all the great deals you meant to!
warmly,
Mystress

Really, mouse thinks it's just a huge excuse to stay up all night and shop.

Aww Sadie that's a shame. Thanksgiving is probably more exhausting, but it was a wonderful day.

Mystress,

Yes,we did get a few really awesome deals, but really we go to share the shopping excitement. We don't go crazy and camp out for days and days to get one of two big screen TV's. :)

But online shopping is just as fun (some of the deals are even better).

Hugs,
mouse
