Around the World and Back Again

At a complete loss of what to say today.  So, figured mouse would guide her readers through what inspired mouse this week here in blogland. So, in no particular order...

  • China-Doll is back to blogging and posted a fascinating piece on how mutually beneficial even a power exchange can be.
  • Jz has gone rogue and against the blogging grain...Really she's swimming upstream with her April A-Z.  Can't wait for "C"
  • Sue over at Voicing the Crone, got mouse really thinking about how daily chores are divided up with her post, "Power Balance."
  • Vesta's Submission is one of mouse's favorite "Go to" blogs.  Always fascinating to read and impossible to choose just one of her recent posts that has made mouse think, so we'll just link to her whole blog and call it a day.
  • Finally DelFonte wrote a funny piece you too can read here.
In other not-too-important news Daddy recently directed mouse to this website. Oddly mouse is finding the whole website interesting when she's not giggling and feels a bit flushed at exactly how unladylike she can be at times.  Also in her distant and limited spare time, she's become enchanted with Downton Abbey.  Yes a little late to this party, as millions already watch it, but just finished season 1 and totally excited to see what happens next.

Needless to say, Daddy, who totally doesn't understand the appeal, sat down and watched a little of an episode before proclaiming it a "time waster."  To him it's no different than playing a game on the ipad, except longer.  He'd much rather mouse invest in her mind and read a book.  Well, his words were,  'a proper book.'  The kind preferably with pages and a binding, but he won't begrudge mouse this small indulgence.

Thank you for mentioning me on your world tour. I am amongst most excellent bloggers here in blogland.
As for the pink bag, as I write this it is still hidden in the car waiting for kids to go to bed. so frustrating :-)

Hello mouse, long time no write. I do hope on this very lovely Sunday you are found smiling and embracing the first hints of spring.

I am finding, as I age, that I feel prickles whenever I hear the term "unladylike". I value manners, polite conversations, respectable attire, soft spoken tones and a general demeanour of pleasantness. With that said though I think all of those traits are best expressed by both sexes, not just women. In many ways I feel the description "unladylike" to be form of bondage, to silence a woman's thoughts, natural expression and sexuality.

Of course this is a generalization from me. I do not think when all people use the term "ladylike" that they are referring to a doormat, a person who does not speak her mind or stay firm in her decision. I do not assume that all people are stating women should not be sexually explicit creatures, human beings who experience arousal and are not afraid to express it. That would be a rather judgemental and unfair assumption.

With that said, I know of individuals who still believe that a woman is unladylike when she has a career, when she has chosen not to be a mother and instead focus on her work, when she wears short dresses and lots of make up, when she has sex with a multitude of men, when she voices her own opinion rather than agreeing with a man.

Women and men are different. I respect this; however, I am curious, if there are "unladylike" behaviours are their "ungentlemanlylike" behaviours and what would those look like?

I have to say, from all I have read, from all you have shared, you are very much a lady in my eyes. Polite, graceful, filled with adoration. I can not help but think your "unladylike" moments are really you just, well being human. :)

I do hope your world brings a smile to your lips today and always.

~a,

Oh goodness you've given mouse so much to consider. Un-gentlemanly behaviors totally do exist, mouse sees them all them all the time. Really, today it seems there is a lack of social grace but that really applies to both sexes albeit differently. Daddy is very much a social gentleman, he largely says his parents are responsible for it. There is a stark contrast, between he and his contemporaries that is really noticeable.

He has an effect on both men and women, from what mouse has observed. But a polite woman, seems men take little notice, but sometimes women notice. It's odd. Maybe mouse will blog about this one day. Might be a good topic on the other blog.

Thanks for your thoughts, always a pleasure to hear from you. Today is very un-spring-like, but flowers are beginning to bloom, the daffodils have already come and gone from the yard (one day mouse will plant more).

Hugs,
mouse

Howdy mouse. I will send some of my sunshine your way. :) I am curious are they ungentlemanly or just not nice in general? I guess my question really stems from: What makes a gentle responsible for certain behaviours and a woman responsible for other behaviours?

When I think of manners and polite, courteous, behaviours I tend not to associate a specific sex to the action, I expect humans in general to behave this way. I guess some people would simply use the term unladylike or ungentlemanly to distinguish who he/she is speaking of. For me it is not sex based. I think that is what I was trying to say. Sometimes my mouth rambles far too much.

I fully agree I have moments when my behaviours are just not nice or pleasant but to me that is not being unladylike, that is just not being a good person (in that moment).

I am very happy to hear the flowers are blooming. Our winter has been a long one, flowers have yet to start to bud.

Big hugs.

Had a reply all typed out and lost it. :(.

On the whole mouse completely agrees most if not all aren't related to ones gender. There are little things Omega does that are "old school" or "dated" in some circles.

Thanks for the sunshine, the sun came out and it's lovely outside right now.

Hugs again,
